Royal Wedding Show

The 1st Annual Royal Wedding Show
Saturday, February 16, 2013
Hanlon Convention Centre, Guelph

Saturday, February 16 marked the first annual Royal Wedding Show at the Hanlon Convention Centre in Guelph, presented by Magic 106.1.  The hall, already beautiful, was filled with gorgeous booths, creatively designed by some very talented members in the wedding industry.  It was a pleasure meeting with so many excited brides-to-be (and a few grooms too!), eager to gain insight and inspiration from a variety of vendors.

It was a pleasure connecting with local vendors!  Kurt Brown from Two Tone Studios Photography (@twotonestudios), whose booth was directly across from mine, had a funky and eclectic booth that showed off his amazing creativity and style!

Another booth neighbour, Mark Caravaggio a.k.a DJ Charlie Clean (@DJCharlieClean), generously donated a prize for a very lucky wedding couple to win his DJ services for their upcoming wedding!  To say the couple were excited about winning is an understatement!

Anne Forestell from Wellington Cakes (@WellingtonCakes), had her beautiful (and delicious!) creations on display.  I may or may not have  indulged in a cupcake after a long day!  Thanks Anne!

Laura Daniel from Guelph Tent Rentals (@guelphtents) showed off her exquisite style and eye for all things beautiful with two table settings (high $ and low $) under one of their tents.

Kelly from Candy Coated Sweet Tables (@CCSweetTables) had a lovely booth with sweet and delectable creations!  From a cupcake bouquet, to delicious mini cupcakes, to bride and groom cake pops.  Kelly can create a wonderfully creative sweet table that will provide a unique element to any wedding!

I wish to extend my sincerest thanks to Magic 106.1 for an extremely successful show!  Everyone’s hard work and dedication to make this Guelph’s premier bridal show paid off!  I’m already looking forward to next year!

Why Should I Hire a Wedding Planner?

Why Should I Hire a Wedding Planner?

CONGRATULATIONS, YOU’RE ENGAGED!

Now what?!  Now the planning begins!  The planning process isn’t all fun and games – there’s a lot to do in preparation for your big day!  If you’re feeling overwhelmed or just don’t know where to begin, consider hiring a wedding planner.

Now, I know what you're thinking.  How can I afford a wedding planner when my last name isn't Kardashian?  Brides often think that wedding planners are only for the rich and famous.  That is an absolute myth!  Continue reading to discover why hiring a wedding planner might be right (and affordable) for you!

Cost-Effective.  Think you can’t afford a wedding planner?  Think again.  Planners work on multiple events and have established good working relationships with vendors from all areas.  Planners have already done the legwork of researching and meeting with vendors, and know the best of the best to suit every budget.  Planners always refer couples to vendors and as a result a vendor is more likely to negotiate with a planner who can give them repeat business.

Stress!  A wedding planner takes on the stress involved in planning your big day.  They act as a liaison between you and all of the various vendors.  They co-ordinate meetings, provide creative input, keep you on budget and ask the right questions.  And most importantly, they are there for you on your big day to ensure that everything runs smoothly so you can relax and enjoy time with your family and friends.

Budget.  There are several guides that dictate what percentage you should be spending on every aspect of your wedding.  These guides can be useful, but it is also valuable to know what is important to you and have your budget reflect that.  A wedding planner will discuss with you and offer guidance about what is within your price range.  It can be overwhelming when you start exploring all of the possibilities, but a wedding planner will serve as a great resource to keep you in check.

Creativity.  There is no shortage of books and online guides to provide ideas for your special day, but a wedding planner has orchestrated several events from beginning to successful end.  You may have several ideas swirling around in your head about colours, themes and décor but just don't know how to pull it all together.  That's where a wedding planner can prove useful to interpret your vision in a cohesive way to make your day as beautiful as you have always pictured it to be.

Experience.  A wedding planner is in the unique position of having knowledge and experience on ALL aspects of a wedding, from vendors to budget to design and everything in between.  They know how to stay focused on each area so your vision becomes reality.

Piece of Cake Event Planning is committed to providing you with a personalized experience from your initial consultation right through to your perfect day.  You will discover outstanding service that reflects your style, taste and brings your ideas to life.  We specialize in creating memorable events, incorporating exquisite style, attention to detail and personalized service, ensuring that your wedding day is truly one of a kind.
